Army Major shot dead by soldier in argument over use of mobile phone | KNO

An Army Major was shot dead by his subordinate after his phone was confiscated by the officer during a surprise check at a post in Uri area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, a media report said today.

Major Shikhar Thapa of 71 Armed Regiment presently posted with 8 Rashtriya Rifles suffered fatal wounds when a soldier fired two shots from his AK 47 rifle from behind, reported India Today.



It said that the major scolded the soldier after he was found using his mobile phone on duty.

The soldier became angry after his phone got damaged while it was being confiscated. "An argument ensued between the officer and the soldier who then fired two bullets at Thapa from behind," said the report.
